Salute To Seniors: Former Parent Educator from New England Became a Role Model for Others
We have been highlighting a different senior every week, who played a part in making New England a wonderful place to live. This week, we want to salute Nance Duguay. She was nominated by her friend, Wendy.
Wendy writes:
When I first met Nance, she was my parent educator. My life was really rough and I was having a very hard time handling my five children. She taught me how to parent in a more positive way. She also taught me how to have more faith in myself and that I don't have to let the stuff around me affect who I was going to be as a person, that how I grew up didn't have to affect who I was or who I was going to be. She turned into more than just a parent educator. She turned into a role model, one who had touched my life and had actually given me more skills than I think even she could possibly understand. I'm writing this, because she has touched my life in a way that has affected it in such a positive manner that my life has grown even with all the harsh stuff I've been through. This letter is basically to thank her and to salute my favorite senior because she is the senior that has affected my life the most.
Each week, HOM will be featuring a different senior who has made New England a better place to live. Nominate a special senior in your life to tell his/her story. They can be a relative, friend, neighbor or someone else you know. You can even nominate yourself. The featured senior will receive a $50 gift card to use at an area mall, and a one year subscription to American Senior magazine. They'll also be invited to a luncheon here at Townsquare Media, honoring all of the seniors we're saluting.
