Salute To Seniors: Energetic Maine Grandmother Is A Two-Time Cancer Survivor
Each week, we are highlighting a different senior who played a part in making New England such a great place to live. This week, we want to salute Phyllis McAvey from Hermon, Maine, who was nominated by her granddaughter Chelcie.
Chelcie has this to say about her grandmother:
My grandmother Phyllis is 83 years old and lives in Hermon, Maine with her husband of over 60 years, Kenneth McAvey. Phyllis is a energetic mother of 4, grandmother of 3 and even has two great grandchildren. She is a 2 time cancer survivor and finds joy in gardening, taking care of her 6 chickens, and when she has time, watching "Price Is Right" and the "Wheel Of Fortune."
She deserves this recognition as she is the hardest working and bravest person I know and is truly a role model to me and others around her.
Each week, HOM will be featuring a different senior who has made New England a better place to live. Nominate a special senior in your life to tell his/her story. They can be a relative, friend, neighbor or someone else you know. You can even nominate yourself. The featured senior will receive a $50 gift card to use at an area mall, and a one year subscription to American Senior magazine. They'll also be invited to a luncheon here at Townsquare Media, honoring all of the seniors we're saluting.
