Salute To Seniors: How One Kind Woman Made A Big Difference In Bridgton
HOM and American Senior Magazine are saluting seniors who have given back to the New England community. This week, we want to salute Patti Wininger who was nominated by her friend Carla.
Carla writes:
"Five years ago, my friend Patti saw a need in Bridgton and the surrounding community for a place where low-income families could obtain clothing and housewares at affordable prices. She took it upon herself to start a non-profit organization called Community Help and set up a small donation depot where people could bring gently used clothing and housewares that could be sold at greatly reduced prices to people in need. She proceeded to sell whole bags of clothing for $3.00 to first-time buyers, which was a blessing to many families. That small depot has grown to a 1,000+ square foot facility in Bridgton which serves the needs of hundreds of families. Patti has done all of this on a volunteer basis, and she deserves recognition for her vision, compassion and action."
Each week, HOM will be featuring a different senior who has made New England a better place to live. Nominate a special senior in your life to tell their story. They can be a relative, friend, neighbor or someone else you know. You can even nominate yourself. The featured senior will receive a $50 gift card to use at an area mall, and a one year subscription to American Senior magazine. They'll also be invited to a luncheon here at Townsquare Media, honoring all of the seniors we're saluting.
