Moe’s Original BBQ Crushing it in New Scarborough, Maine, Location

Moe's Original BBQ is great at Alabama-style foods, but the timing of construction was a little challenging.

Dewey Hasbrouck is the owner of Moe's Original BBQ in South Portland and now in Scarborough, Maine. He had been in South Portland for 10 years and found a location on Payne Road that's perfect for what he wants to do. It's where the old Great East Butcher Co. used to be.

Moe's Original BBQ in Scarborough, Maine, was worth the wait

Dewey acknowledged on Facebook in January 2025 that people have been incredibly kind and patient as they tried to get up and running. They come close to opening their new location in Scarborough, Maine, and close the South Portland restaurant.

There are many things I'm not great at, and it turns out apparently getting building projects done on time is one of them! With that said - my wife, Emily, both Chris's, Emma and our GREAT group of contractors CRUSHING IT to get us open, so I'm HOPING for sometime in the next 2-3 weeks if we can get all our inspections & licensing.

Your Maine summer isn't complete without Moe's BBQ

When I first heard of Moe's big move, I reached out to Dewey (super awesome guy!) and asked about the opening date. This was what he said in November 2024,

We are unsure of our exact opening date yet but should be within the first week or two of December. We will be moving over there and shutting down the South Portland store (but it’s only a couple minutes away and in a more easily accessible location!)

He's right. He is no good at knowing about construction. That's okay, Dewey. We get it. You understand BBQ, and we know the world isn't always that predictable. He officially opened at the end of March 2025, and they have been better than ever!

Run, don't walk, to the new/old Moe's in Scarborough. I say run, because after you fill that belly, you won't be doing any running.
