Maine’s Tri for a Cure Takes Over SoPo: 1,200 Women Racing to Crush Cancer
Okay, heads up to all of my powerful souls, Tri for a Cure is back and bigger then ever, according to Portland Press Herald.
Happening this Sunday, July 20th in South Portland, this triathlon is emotional, pink-filled, and badass.
With over 1,200 women swimming, biking, and running their hearts out to fight cancer, you know it's going to be powerful to witness.
What they do, is amazing and exhausting just to read. Get this, they start around 8:00am with a swim, then hit the road for a 15 mile bike ride, they then finish it off with a 3.2 mile run!
This is all happening around Willard Square and SMCC, but they'll also go through Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth, passing Portland Headlight.

Just be sure to know there will be road closures in the area. Preble Street will be totally shut down from 5:00am to 11:00am.

But to be honest, this is entirely worth every second of road closures. People will decorate their yards in pink and come out in roads cheering for the athletes! The best part is how much money they raise.
They've been able to raise over $25 million for the Maine Cancer Foundation. This will help with screening, treatment, and prevention.
It's all so emotional to think how hard they are fighting to beat cancer.
So, whether you are racing, screaming with love or silently supporting, show all of your love on Sunday because these woman are doing something powerful!
