Speed Friending Event Helps Adults Connect in Augusta, Maine
Making new friends as an adult can feel hard. Many people want to meet new people but are not sure where to go or how to start a conversation. If this sounds familiar, Lithgow Public Library has a fun and easy solution.
The library is hosting a Speed Friending event on Wednesday, January 7, from 6 to 7 pm. The event will take place at Lithgow Public Library, located at 45 Winthrop Street in Augusta. This free program is designed to help adults connect in a relaxed and friendly setting. Registration is not required, so you can simply show up and join in.
Speed Friending works a lot like speed dating, but with one goal in mind, which is making friends. Participants will sit across from someone they do not know and chat for about five minutes. When time is up, everyone switches to a new person. This gives you the chance to meet several people in just one hour without the pressure of a long conversation.
Not sure what to say? Do not worry. The library will provide simple discussion prompts to help get conversations started and keep things moving. You can talk about hobbies, favorite books, movies, or anything else that comes up naturally. The focus is on having fun and making connections, not being perfect.
This event is open to adults of all ages. Whether you are new to the area, looking to expand your social circle, or just want to try something different, Speed Friending is a great way to meet new people in a comfortable space.
Lithgow Public Library also offers many other programs throughout the month. Later events include Open Chess and Checkers Play, a Silent Reading Group, Toddler Time, French Social Hour, and much more. These programs give people of all ages more chances to learn, relax, and connect with others in the community.
