New Hampshire may have never gotten the giant blizzard many anticipated in December. But plenty of customers in Manchester did.

A Dairy Queen located on Second Street in Manchester finished 2022 as the highest-earning store in the United States, according to WMUR. It beat out over 4,000 other franchises for the honor.

Though the final tally was not officially disclosed, Manchester narrowly beat out a Dairy Queen in Gray, Georgia, to take the top spot. However, the Georgia location took home top honors for most breakfast sales.

While the Manchester Dairy Queen relied on a local movement to finish the year strong, along with various promotions and delivery deals, it likely had some help from the unseasonably warm weather this past fall, as well as warm weather down the stretch in December that rivaled some record warm temperatures in New England.

This also, no doubt, aided the store’s three-peat for most ice cream sold by any Dairy Queen in the U.S., as it took top honors for the third consecutive year.

Now headquartered in Minneapolis, the first Dairy Queen opened in Joliet, Illinois, in 1940, according to the company’s official website. The chain has 12 franchises in New Hampshire, located in Concord, Glen, Hudson, Laconia, Merrimack, Nashua, North Conway, Salem, and Somersworth, as well as Manchester.

Per the company’s website, it has 108 total locations in New England, including 39 in Connecticut, 33 in Massachusetts, 22 in Maine, and two in Rhode Island.

Unsurprisingly, Vermont, home to Ben & Jerry’s, does not have a Dairy Queen.

The feet by Dairy Queen marks Manchester’s latest notch in American fast food lore, as it was also home to the McDonald brothers, who would go on to found McDonald’s.
