Maine Dairy Queens Celebrate 85 Years With 85 Cent Blizzards
You may have heard about the 85 cent small Blizzards that are available for a limited time at Dairy Queen. Here's how to get yours.
Dairy Queen History
According to Wikipedia, the first Dairy Queen opened on June 22, 1940, in Joliet, Illinois. Today, the franchise has grown to 4,455 stores in the United States and 6,800 stores worldwide. Some are just ice cream stands while others are complete restaurants called "Grill & Chills" like the one above in Windham, Maine.
Every state in New England has at least one DQ except Vermont. It's the only US state that doesn't have a DQ. They don't know what they're missing.
DQ's 85th Birthday Celebration

How To Get Your 85 Cent Blizzard
There are a few minor hoops you have to jump through to get your free Blizzard "for a limited time." You probably knew you were going to hear those words.
To get your free Blizzard you need to have the DQ app which you can find in your app store and spend $1 or more on something from DQ. You also must redeem the DQ Rewards deal to get the free small Blizzard. It could take up to 24 hours for your deal to appear in your app. This is at participating DQ locations only, so don't be disappointed if your locally owned DQ is not participating in the free small Blizzard deal.
There are 21 DQ's in Maine alone. They are in Auburn, Augusta, Bangor, Belfast, Biddeford, Brewer, Ellsworth, Kennebunk, Old Orchard Beach, Old Town, Rockland, Saco, Sanford, South Portland, Topsham, Waterville, Wells, Westbrook, Windham and Woolwich
