What’s With All the Spray Painted Duckys in Portland, Maine?
I see 'ducky' on sidewalks and now manhole covers all over Portland, Maine.
If I hadn't had to walk a mile to a bar on New Year's Eve, I may have missed all the 'ducky' spray-painted messages. No one seems to know what the heck it means.
Even Reddit doesn't know what the ducky is all about in Portland, Maine
I often get the scoop on what something means or is about in Portland, Maine with the Reddit thread portlandme. But even Reddit doesn't know. One Reddit user Queephbubble did crack me up by saying when asked what or who is ducky,

Is this all part of the 'bee' graffiti that showed up all over Portland, Maine?
Maybe? No one has the answer to the ducky mystery. Google was no help at all! In fact, Google's slang definition is British Informal. plural duckies. dear; sweetheart; darling; pet (used as a term of endearment or familiarity): Get a wiggle on, ducky, or we'll be late for the movie.
If someone said, 'Get a wiggle on, ducky, or we'll be late for the movie' they'd be seeing that movie alone.
Does anyone know what 'ducky' means all over Portland, Maine?
We may never know. But the k is done oddly and the same on all the different duckys in town. It's like a v that has a line added to it. Like the v is being held up. No help I know...just thought it was interesting.
