Mainers generosity never ceases to amaze me.

Every October, there is a fundraiser called Cans for a Cure, which has been around for over two decades. It's essentially a giant bottle drive. Those bottles are turned into money through Clynk, and the money is given to the Maine Cancer Foundation.

This year, the Maine Cancer Foundation received $91,000.

It's November - why are they collecting bottles and cans for Cans for a Cure now?

The Fontaine Family Real Estate Leader has made it their mission for about 10 years to help Cans for a Cure by having their own bottle drive and transferring those bottles to the fundraiser.

But they recently heard Aquaboggin offered the bottles and cans they had collected over the busy summer.

As Ethan Mongue, the general manager of Aquaboggin Water Park told Fontaine, they were welcome to the bottles and cans collected, BUT, there could be trash mixed in with them. It happens.

So to sort through, to get the bottles and cans to Clynk, they gathered volunteers and went to work sorting through it all!

Aquaboggin and Fontaine Family Real Estate come together to help fight cancer!

Having collected bottles and cans for the Maine Cancer Foundation for over 22 years, I know firsthand it's not an easy task. Well, it's not that it's difficult, it's just kinda nasty. It was nice to see the kids get involved for the greater good!

This is why I love Maine so much.

Thank you to two of my favorite places - Fontaine Family Real Estate and Aquaboggin Water Park! Seriously above and beyond! And a special shout out to Clynk for helping too! They are already processing the bottles and cans for next year's event!
