‘Clue’ Live on Stage is Coming to Portland’s Merrill Auditorium
One of the funniest movies to be released back in 1985 was Clue. Yes, they made a movie out of the mystery-solving board game you played as a kid. The board game became a movie, and then the movie became a touring on-stage performance coming to Portland's Merrill Auditorium.
Clue (The Movie)
The original Clue movie was released to theaters in 1985, up against big summer hits like Back to the Future, Rambo: First Blood II, Rocky IV, The Color Purple, and Out of Africa.
Clue had some big stars for this movie that became a cult favorite, including Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren.
It was the only movie released that had three different endings, each revealing a different suspect as the murderer: Miss Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, or multiple people, a gimmick to mimic the board game's unpredictability, with a fourth option to play all three sequentially on home video.
The trick with movie theaters is that they only showed one of the three endings, meaning you'd have to get lucky to see all three in the theater.
That all changed with the VHS release, when all endings were included.
Clue On Stage
The Clue movie had such a cult following that Clue: On Stage began touring across the country with groups of actors playing the parts of all the possible suspects of Mr. Body's killer.
Not only is it touring he country, but it's also coming to Merrill Auditorium on January 14 & 15, 2025 at 7 p.m.
If you're a fan ot the 1985 movie, then you'll be a fan of Clue: On Stage.
