Maine Filmmaker’s New Comedy Turns Canoeing Into Comedy Gold

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you combined the awkward, deadpan humor of The Office with the world of competitive canoeing... Maine filmmaker Sam Dunning has your answer. 

“Canoe Dig It?” is this hilarious mockumentary comedy that dives into the wonderfully strange and surprisingly intense world of freestyle canoeing a real sport that is basically canoe dancing.

Yes, canoe dancing. 

The film follows a fictional group of competitors preparing for the Moosehead Regional Finals as they chase the ultimate prize: the coveted “Top Paddler” ribbon.

Along the way, viewers meet a cast of unforgettable characters, including a perfectionist competitor, a natural outdoorsman, an aging underdog, a bickering couple, and a hard-rocking bartender. 

The humor is dry, awkward, and perfectly Maine.
