Construction is well underway for Westbrook's ambitious devlopement, Rock Row, that has promised to bring housing, shopping and entertainement to the area. Now a deal has been struck to build a 12 screen movie thetater as part of the project.

The third largest movie chain inthe U.S., Cinemark, is planning to open a state-of-the-art theater in the summer of 2021 at Rock Row.  It willl feature recliners with cup holders and heat-controlled seats. Why is it movie theaters are always are so cold?

Cinemark's theater will also offer reserved seating and feature what they call an "XD Auditorium" that has a wall to wall screen and enhanced sound system.

Cinemark will be the third movie chain in the Portland area joining the already established Cinemagic and Flagship cinemas and it will also be the first Cinemark in Maine. The nearest Cinemark location to us at the moment is in Massachusetts. They will join other major Rock Row tenants such as Market Basket and Chik-Fil-A.

There's still a long way to go before Rock Row is ready to Rock 'N Roll. (See what I did there?) Keep your eye on the site over then ext few years to watch it take shape.
