There’s a ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ House in Readfield, Maine, and You’re Invited
One mom who loves the movie, 'Nightmare Before Christmas' has transformed her house - and she wants you to come visit!
Sonya, the fun mom, has been working for over a month to transform their home into a spooky spectacular. She has made all of the decorations in the theme of 'Nightmare Before Christmas'! She loves that movie and now her family does too! They want any kid who wants to visit to come by. They are even having a costume contest with prizes on Halloween!
Their house is off Route 17 on the left (Adell Road) as you enter Readfield. Look for signs!
This is a free event through October. They are not asking for money or donations. They just want people to enjoy all the fun and time Sonya took to make every single decoration! Clean, safe, and fun for anyone interested!
Sonya made 90 percent of the props using stuff she had laying around the house. Like she built Zero’s house out of styrofoam that came in the package with her kid’s stroller and the doors to each holiday’s land are canned spray foam insulation on plywood! She's quite creative!
Why is this mom turning her home into a 'Nightmare Before Christmas' and inviting all of Maine? Well, It all started when they moved into their house and the gorgeous 300 plus-year-old oak tree reminded her of the tree in 'Nightmare Before Christmas' which, as a late 80s baby, has been the soundtrack to her life.
Then the grove of trees next to the garage reminded her of the circle of trees where the holiday doors were… looking around she saw the theme. Like happy ghosts just waiting to be made visible to others.
This past year her two-and-a-half-year-old got into musicals and loved the music from 'Nightmare Before Christmas'. She was a little nervous that the movie might be too scary for him, but he fell in love with it!
One-half of her garage will be set up like the town hall meeting when Jack tells the … halloweenies (hallow-folk, halloweeninites?) about Christmas. She's even got Lock Shock and Barrel in a tote-turned-tub!
They will have bags of candy pre-wrapped in individual bundles ~ and if you aren't into candy, they will have non-edible toy bags and snack food as options. It's a well-lit, private road easily accessible but no thru-traffic so it’s a little safer. Don't forget that there is a costume contest at 6:15 with prizes on Halloween night!
Are you as into Halloween as Sonya? Cuz I'm gonna say nope.
