Best Buddies Maine is the 2025 Beach to Beacon Beneficiary
Best Buddies Maine has been selected as the beneficiary of the 27th running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race.
Beach to Beacon History
Cape Elizabeth native Joan Benoit Samuelson founded the Beach to Beacon 10K in 1998 to benefit children’s charities in Maine. She won the gold medal in the first-ever women's marathon at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
The name comes from the route of the marathon which starts at Crest Beach State Park and ends at Portland Headlight.
Each year another Maine children's charity is chosen to be the beneficiary of the race. TD Bank announced in a press release that this year's beneficiary will receive $30,000.
Best Buddies Maine
Best Buddies Maine is this year's beneficiary of the TD Bank Beach to Beacon. They are the largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of the 200 million people worldwide with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Their programs empower people with IDD to form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure jobs, improve communication and advocacy skills, and live independently while also offering support to their families.
Best Buddies will receive $30,000 from TD Bank and further benefit from fundraising activities, like the Beach To Beacon's charity bib program.
