Staffing Shortages

Staffing is an issue across the board but particularly impacting seasonal, tourist-attracting jobs such as theme parks. Funtown Splashtown USA started out at reduced hours and have since adjusted and are open 7 days a week. Two New Hampshire parks, however, are finding that they need to make some changes.

Story Land

Story Land located in Glen, New Hampshire is the premier northern New England attraction for those with young kids and has been for generations. The park is known for Fairy Tale and Nursery Rhyme-inspired rides.

Unfortunately, due to staffing shortages, they have made the unique decision to shut down certain rides for one hour a day.

The rides are Flying Fish, Turtle Twirl, Roar-O-Saurus, Crazy Barn, and Farm Tractors. These are all located in a cluster in the back of the park and will be closed daily from 1 pm to 2 pm.

Canobie Lake Park

Canobie Lake Park located in Salem, New Hampshire has plenty of thrills and family rides but they definitely don't have enough staff.

WMUR reports that between 50% of staff returning and new applicants being down 75%, the park had to make some changes.

Canobie Lake Park recently announced that they will now only be open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:30 am to 7 pm, and until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

The park hopes to accommodate parents looking for work once the college students on staff return to school. They are also in need of staff for their annual Halloween festival, Screeemfest.
