Fix It for Free: South Portland Library Hosts Repair Fair This Weekend
You've been putting it off too long, but I get it. We all have things that are broken that can be easily fixed by someone who has the repair skills needed, but how much is it going to cost? How about nothing?
South Portland Library Hosting Repair Fair
South Portland's Sustainability Department and the Waste Reduction Committee are collaborating to hold a Repair Fair on Saturday, January 25 from 10 am to 1 pm at the South Portland Library. Until now, I had never heard of such a thing as a repair fair, but I love this concept.
What's a Repair Fair?
Volunteers have generously donated their time to help those who have things that need fixing that are outside their skill set. With me, that's just about everything in my house. I Did manage to fix a few cabinet doors, but that's about the extent of my handyman skills.

Bring in one item that you need to be repaired to the South Portland Library's Repair Fair, and someone will be happy to fix it for you. There are a few restrictions though.
What Can You Bring To Have Repaired?
Since you aren't having a handyman come to your house, fixing your washer or refrigerator is not going to happen. Whatever you need fixed, you need to be able to be able to carry.
Here's a list of items that volunteers are happy to repair for you:
- Clothing/Jackets
- Small Appliances (toasters, belnders etc)
- Lamps
- Electronics
- Wooden Furniture
- Jewelry
Remember! Only one item per person, but at the price of free, that's a great deal!
