It is almost that time of year again when we see candy flying off the shelves in all stores. Now, my question to you is, what kind of candy do you reach for to prepare for the biggest night of the year?

I'm here to share that there are some sweets that many New England children are searching for in the bowl on trick-or-treat night.

In 2022, candystore.com collected the three most desired Halloween candies from each state in New England, and some of them were a surprise.

According to the candy store,

  • New Hampshire desires M&Ms, Starbursts, and Jolly Ranchers
  • Massachusetts desires Sour Patch Kids, Butterfingers, and Dubble Bubble Gum
  • Maine desires Sour Patch Kids, Starbursts, and Candy Corn

I was a bit surprised that the Candy Store found New England trick-or-treaters gravitating toward gummies and even candy corn. Personally, as a kid, I found candy corn to be flavorless. I made sure to steer clear of candy corn, circus peanuts, licorice, and the big snowball-shaped popcorn balls.

I never enjoyed eating sweets that would get stuck in my teeth. If you enjoy eating gummy sweets, then I wish I met you when I was younger, because I would have traded all my gummies for your chocolate.

I wonder as to why there were not many New England chocolate lovers. Is it because chocolate is not coated in sugar like a Sour Patch Kid? Or is it that most chocolate does not come in fun shapes?

I am and always will be a chocolate lover at heart. I guess that means there may be more chocolate on the shelves waiting for me to buy this Halloween.

Let me know what candy you loathe or love!
