Portland Sea Dogs Hosting Blood Drive in Honor of The Valentine’s Day Bandit
For over 40 years, the "Valentine's Day Bandit" covered downtown Portland, Maine, with red hearts printed on paper. One giant heart hung somewhere within the city, and once was hung in the ocean at Fort Gorgeous.
To honor the Valentine's Day Bandit, the Portland Sea Dogs are partnering with the American Red Cross for a Valentine's Day Bandit Blood Drive.
Who was The Valentine's Day Bandit?
That question always kept people wondering who the Bandit was. It wasn't until the Bandit's sudden death in 2023 that we learned who it was that had undertaken this amazing task under the cover of darkness.
Kevin Fahrman of Falmouth passed away at the age of 67. According to WMTW he was a musician, teacher, husband, father, friend, and the Valentine's Day Bandit.
The Legacy Goes On
The passing of The Valentine Bandit has not stopped the annual tradition of covering Portland in hearts. Many volunteers carried on in Kevin Fharman's footsteps in 2024, the first Valentine's Day since his passing, and no doubt will do so again.
Valentine's Day Bandit Blood Drive
The Portland Sea Dogs are teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive in honor of Valentine’s Day Bandit Kevin Fahrman on February 14, of course. It will be at the Clarion Hotel at 1230 Congress Street in Portland from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
