If you're an avid runner, you've probably participated in all kinds of themed runs. But have you ever run two miles while being attacked by zombies? Believe it or not, this is a thing.

The University of Southern Maine women's cross country team, the Gorham Outdoors Club and Gorham Recreation are hosting the 2 Miles of Terror Zombie Run on October 15 at the Shaw Cherry Hill Farm trails behind Sebago Brewing tasting room in Gorham.

You'll run out the trail for a mile and back and along the way, you may encounter some of the undead lurking nearby. It's being labeled as a "fun run," and that's probably true if your idea of fun is jump scares.

Runners are encouraged to wear costumes. Maybe if you dress like a zombie yourself, then the ones lurking along the trail will just ignore you. That's how it worked in The Walking Dead, isn't it?

There's a free 1K run for kids too that includes some spooky surprises as well as face painting if you get there early.

Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. and is $15 day of, or $10 if you register online. All the proceeds benefit the USM women's cross country team. Your registration also gets you a raffle ticket for prizes at the end of the race.
