Pre-cut Melon Being Recalled In New England Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination
There is a voluntarily recall by Caito Foods LLC of pre-cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fruit medley products containing melons, according to our news partner WMTW. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration reportedly have concerns about salmonella contamination. The melon products were sold under different brand names at many retailers including Target, Walmart, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's. WMTW says the products were packaged in clear, plastic clamshell containers.
So far, twenty-three people have been hospitalized throughout the United States, as per WMTW. However, no deaths have been reported.
Check the Food and Drug Administration's website for a complete list of the recalled products. If you have any of these melons in your refrigerator, please throw them out or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund.
