Pet Owners Beware: Select Hill’s Canned Dog Food Have Been Recalled
The Food and Drug Administration has issued another recall of select Hill’s canned dog food products because of elevated levels of vitamin D. Hill’s Pet Nutrition reportedly expanded its recall due to the same vitamin premix that came from a U.S. supplier. It is the same supplier that was the source of the January 31st recall, according to the FDA.
Officials from the Hill’s Pet Nutrition company say they learned about the issue after a complaint was made in the U.S. about a dog "exhibiting signs" of elevated vitamin D levels. The company reports it was able to confirm the high levels after an investigation.
If you bought any of the canned dog food with these specific lot/date codes, do not feed them to your pets. Instead, return the products to the place where you bought them and ask for a refund.
This recall does not include dry foods, cat foods or treats, as per the FDA.
