This might be the straw that breaks the camel's back… the biggest bummer of them all. There will be no 4th of July celebration on the Eastern Prom in Portland, Maine this year, according to WGME. Zip, nada, nothing. No time-honored tradition of lighting up of the sky to commemorate the U.S. of A's independence Day from tyranny. And we can thank COVID-19 for taking yet another important triumph from us.

WGME is reporting that city officials are cancelling the annual event, which attracts hundreds of people, not only because of the pandemic and resulting government-mandated restrictions of crowd sizes; but also because of "budget constraints would keep the city from covering the expenses."

What will you do instead? We need some ideas on safe ways to celebrate our nation's 244th birthday. Let us know on our Facebook page.
