I was 13 years old when a new line of toys hit the market called "Transformers." My brother, who is two years younger than me, had more fun with them than I did. Despite that, these "robots in disguise" were pretty amazing.

Now you can see a life-size version of the leader to the Autobots, Optimus Prime when he comes to the Mid Maine Comic & Toy Con this summer.

The Mid-Maine Comic & Toy Con will be held the weekend of July 26 and 27 at Thomas College in Waterville Maine and has a little something for every geek out there. I use the term "geek" in the most respectful way since I am one myself.

Who's going to be there? Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D New England, Autobot G-1 Tracks, and Optimus is Here. Plus lots of vendors, people dressed in cosplay, comic books for sale, role-playing games, and more.

Optimus is Here is the big attraction. It's the only fan-built full-scale AOE replica truck of Optimus Prime. It was made with the approval of toy company Hasbro which owns the Transformers brand. Does it transform? No, but Optimus Prime does travel around the country raising money for charities and granting private wishes for children that include a VIP experience with Optimus.Prime. Their primary mission is to empower students and to spread a message of anti-bullying around the world.
