For over 70 years, Rapid Ray's in Saco, Maine has been a favorite.

For the generation who heads to Rapid Ray's after a game at Thornton Academy, they think of the 90s as that quaint decade their mom was born in. But for Rapid Ray's, it was the decade they had a catchy little jingle on TV with an ad that was just perfect. I want to know who the little kid is at the end and what he's doing today!

Rapid Ray's is family-owned and a Maine tradition

With so many long-time restaurants in Maine closing their doors, it's nice to see Rapid Ray's is still in Saco, Maine. Rendald 'Ray' Camire opened Ray's as a food truck in the 50s, and in the 80s gave it a foundation and door - but it's still only take-out and it's still fast.

Ray got his nickname of Rapid Ray in the '60s from a group of high school kids who couldn't believe how fast he was! It has stuck ever since.

LoveFood in 2023 went looking for the best independent fast-food restaurant in every state. For Maine, it was Rapid Ray's.  It could be the fact that the menu has stayed pretty small and still pretty affordable. A lobster roll for under $15? Yup.
