For Kids in Maine in the ’80s and ’90s, This Brings Back Memories
I grew up in the 70s and 80s and to this day, the '80s are still the decade of my fondest memories. Playing Little League baseball, riding my bike around town, playing kick the can with the other kids on my street way later than we should. I was very lucky to have had a great childhood.
I happened to stumbled across something on ebay that brought back those memories of the '80s.
Laverdiere's Super Drug Store
Action Family Arcade
During the 1980s video game boom, LaVerdiere's took full advantage of it by opening an arcade in more than half their stores called "Action Family Arcade." For many kids, this was the first time they had ever played an arcade game, and it was incredible.
The walls of the South Paris Action Family Arcade, where I grew up, were lined with The Empire Strikes Back wallpaper and the arcade was buzzing with the sounds of Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, and Space Invaders.
It was also my first introduction to video game tokens. You got five tokens for a dollar, like the ones you see here that are being offered for sale by patrobmalia2ten on ebay, among several others that have held onto these tokens for the past 40 years.

I almost feel like buying some of these, but just seeing them again is enough. Even today, I can never do well playing Paperboy.
