Pictures: Destruction and Beauty in Portland During Spring Ice Storm
Maine got a nasty reminder of why we always say, don't like the weather...wait a minute.
A storm that had it all hit Maine, on Saturday, March 23. But for the coast, it was the end of the storm that was the cruelest. A dose of freezing rain made power outages skyrocket. When we all woke up Sunday morning, many didn't have power and the awe of an ice storm was on our front steps. Portland saw destruction and beauty.

It's hard to deny the beauty of ice-covered trees lining the Eastern Promenade
But behind the beauty of ice clinging to everything is the destruction when that weight is just too much. This is on Fore Street heading to Munjoy Hill.
Downtown Portland, Maine was not exempt from fallen trees due to ice
This is right in Downtown Portland at the Temple Street entrance to One City Center. Where I happened to need to go on Sunday, March 24. Leaving the parking garage I noticed a tree down in Monument Square!
Here's to power being restored and getting the song, 'It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Easter' out of my head!
