Gronk Will Attempt to Kick a $10 Million Field Goal Live in a Super Bowl Commercial
Yes, watching the Super Bowl is entertaining, but let's be honest, the commercials are just as interesting to watch. There have definitely been some iconic commercials played during previous Super Bowls, however, one commercial this year is going to be a bit different.
It seems that former New England Patriots' tight end Rob Gronkowski, aka Gronk, is always up to something. After leaving the Patriots and playing ball for the Buccaneers, Gronk retired but we still did not slow down. He is working as an analyst with Fox, and honestly, with how he is, may even choose to return to playing football next season.
Even if he chooses to return to the game, we do not have to wait much longer to see Gronk back on the football field.
Gronkowski will not be going back on the field as a tight end though, instead, he will be back for a kick. Yes, a kick. According to the Huffington Post, Gronk will be attempting to kick a field goal on Super Bowl Sunday.
Obviously, Gronk will not be kicking for any of the teams playing, but instead will be trying to kick a field goal in a live commercial that will be occurring on Super Bowl Sunday. What's even cooler is that this kick is worth $10 million!
I know, this sounds crazy, Gronk kicking instead of catching, but it is true. Don't believe me? Well, check this out:
This 4 time Super Bowl champ will be back on a football field on February 12th, attempting to kick a 25-yard field goal LIVE during a commercial for FanDuel.
Now, $10 million is definitely a lot of money to be kicking for, which is most likely why they are dubbing it the "Kick of Destiny." The question is can Gronk actually do it?
Huffington Post states that Gronkowski "had 621 catches for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns in the regular season in nine seasons with New England and two with Tampa Bay. He had 98 receptions for 1,389 yards and 15 TDs in the postseason."
This says nothing about field goals though. This is probably due to the fact that Gronk has not made a field goal in his professional career, but he has made one in his lifetime. It was a 33-yarder and it was back in high school, so it's definitely been a while.
If you have faith in Gronk making this field goal, then you may want to get in on the action. Anyone that places a bet of $5 or more on FanDuel will win a share of the $10 million in free bets, but that's only if Gronkowski is successful.
Luckily, if you are wanting to take part in this, Gronk will be training with former Pat's star kicker, Adam Vinateri, the three-time All-Pro that carried out 599 field goals, the most in NFL history.
According to the Huffington Post, Gronkowski believes that he can make this happen saying, “I believe if you put your mind to anything, you can do anything. And I don’t want to disappoint America... I’m going to have to train, but I feel like I’m going to be able to pull it off. It’s like fourth-and-1, game on the line. I like that pressure. I like the ball coming to me. And this is the same situation with the field goal.”
Are you going to put your faith in Gronk? While you think about it, let's take a look at another former Patriots player, Tom Brady.
