Film Legend Daniel Day-Lewis Retiring
Name an epic, memorable movie from the past three decades, and there's a good chance Sir Daniel Day-Lewis had a part in it. There Will Be Blood, Gangs of New York (alongside Leonardo DiCaprio), Last of the Mohicans, and Lincoln -- these are just a few of the films for which Day-Lewis is famous. Through the years, he's held a range of supporting and starring roles and earned three Best Actor Academy Awards.
Now, Day-Lewis is ready to put his performance past to bed. According to TMZ, the actor is quitting his career. A rep for Day-Lewis said, "He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject."
Seems a bit abrupt, but fans will have one more chance to see Day-Lewis's last bit of new work with the release of Phantom Thread toward the end of 2017.
