New Hampshire’s Oldest Inn Has Been in Business For Over 200 Years
New England is one of the few regions of the country that still feels like a place from back in time. Hundreds of buildings still stand, long after those who built them passed.
A prime example can be found in New Hampshire, where the oldest inn has been in business for over 200 years.
The Inn at Hancock
According to Seacoastonlne, The Inn at Hancock opened in 1789. Let that sink in for a second. That's just 13 years after the United States gained its independence. It opened the year that George Washington became the first President. Former President Franklin Pierce stayed at the Inn at Hancock.
How many businesses do you know that have been around this long?
The Hancock Inn
In 2022 the Inn at Hancock was sold and the new owners made renovations that are still ongoing. The owners changed the name to "The Hancock Inn," modernizing the name a bit for the 21st century.
As of this writing, you can't get a room at the Hancock Inn as renovations are still underway and they're hoping to have rooms available sometime in March or April of 2025.

Restaurants Are Open
Two new restaurants at The Hancock Inn are open now for reservations. The Hunt Bar and Scullery is a tavern with live piano jazz. Pinks Lounge is a dining room overlooking the back patio with an a la carte menu and raw bar.
