Cub Scout Pack 684 Bringing Pinewood Derby To Central Maine
Pinewood Derbys have been a tradition held by boy and cub scout groups for years and years. However, Pinewood Derby raves haven't been a huge thing in Central Maine, and for the first time, that's all about to change.
Augusta Cub Scout Pack 684 is hosting Central Maines's first Local Merchant Pinewood Derby race. Derby cars are available for purchase at $15 each, and each participant will compete in 4 races. The 4 winners from each heat will go on to race in the finale.
Race day is Saturday, September 25th, and will be held rain or shine. The event runs from 12 to 4 pm, with the race starting at 12:30 pm.
There will also be a "Touch a Truck" event happening on the same day from 12 - 4. So, even if you don't want to purchase and race a pinewood car in the derby, you can be a spectator and check out all the fun stuff your local boy scout group offers.
All funds raised will go directly to Cub Scout Pack 684 to help will community engagement. For more information, please call Shawn McFarland at 207-620-2401.
