L.L. Bean Opens Massive Tent Store as Freeport Flagship Closes for Renovations
L.L. Bean has started a massive renovation of its flagship store in Freeport, Maine. In the meantime, they have opened a nearly equally massive tent with most of the products shoppers will be looking for.
Out With The Old...
In 2023, L. L. Bean announced that it would be making a $50 million renovation to its flagship store. The renovation is slated to be completed in late 2026. According to the L.L. Bean website "The renewed store and campus will offer seamless shopping and immersive new customer experiences in a thoughtfully designed space."
So what are shoppers to do while the renovations are going on?

Giant Tent Becomes Temporary Flagship Store
L.L. Bean has named this giant teme "Camp L.L. Bean," and they have even modeled the outside of this bigger-than-life tent after their classic Acadia 8-Person Cabin Tent. This one however will hold far more than eight shoppers.
On the inside, it looks just like the L.L. Bean we all know and love.
Where is Camp L.L. Bean?
It's hard to miss, but it's between Cross Street, the L.L. Bean Home Store, and Discovery Park. It's on the lower left of this map of the L.L. Bean campus.
As for the new flagship store, the big renovation will still look very much like L.L. Bean. They've got a very good formula for what the outdoors should look like inside.
