Veterans Day is on Friday, November 11 and there are many Maine businesses that are honoring those who have served their country. One of those is showing their gratitude to Mainers who have served by giving them a full meal for free.

Lotus Chinese and Japanese Restaurant opened on Center Street in Auburn in 2013 and for every Veterans day since then, the popular restaurant has said thanks to Veterans with a free meal.

Owner Jim Wu said in a press release, “We have offered free meals for Veterans on Veteran’s Day since Lotus first opened. This continues to be an important tradition for us. Giving back to the men and women who have given so much for their country is something that we feel very strongly about, and it’s always an honor to welcome so many Veterans into our restaurant.”

For the tenth year in a row, Lotus Restaurant will be offering a free meal to Veterans on Veteran’s Day but it is offered for dine-in customers only.

Like so many other businesses in the service industry, Lotus is experiencing staff shortages, but they're still expecting a big turnout, so they ask for your patience.

All active-duty members of the military and Veterans are eligible for the free meal from Lotus' All You Can Eat Buffet, however beverages, tax, and gratuity are not included. Meals are limited to one per person.

Lotus is open on Veterans Day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m and if you would like to make a reservation, you can call 207-241-0870. For a look at the menu, visit Lotus' website.
