The American Red Cross would like you join them for the ‘Roll Up Your Sleeve and Remember’ blood drive.  September 11th is the national Day of Remembrance

Maine will have four locations:

-Augusta Civic Center from 8a-3p
-Auburn Fire Department from 9a-3p
-Portland Elks Lodge from 7a-5p
-Bangor area at the Holden Fire Department from 9a-2p

The are very well attended blood drives. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you can schedule an appointment with the American Red Cross

I remember in the few days after September 11, 2001 when thousands and thousands of people stepped up to give blood.  In the first few days the estimates of the injured were much higher than what it turned out to be.  But this tragedy united so many.

Now, we have a chance to do that every September 11th to honor those who lost their lives and the heroes who rose up that day and for countless days after.

I would also encourage you to donate on a regular basis.  The need is there 365 days a year and there are locations to donate just about every day.  It makes a difference.
