In an age of uncertainty with the ongoing coronavirus crisis, blood from all races and ethnicities is needed more than ever before. The American Red Cross says this is because some blood types are unique to certain racial and ethnic groups. "For patients with rare blood types, blood from someone with a similar racial or ethnic background is important to decrease the chance of complications."

There are many upcoming Red Cross blood drives throughout Greater Portland, Maine. Here are some of them:

Portland:

Wednesday, 9/16/2020: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Clarion Hotel, 1230 Congress Street.
Friday, 9/18/2020: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Fireside Inn and Suites, 81 Riverside Street.
Monday, 9/21/2020: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Holiday Inn by the Bay, 88 Spring Street.
Wednesday, 9/23/2020: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Clarion Hotel, 1230 Congress Street.

South Portland:
