There's a location in Portland's Old Port that has seen a lot of businesses come and go over the past decade or so. At some point, one begins to wonder if this location is just cursed. But if there's an idea that could break the curse of 52 Wharf Street, this could be it.

According to Portland Food Map, a new upscale whiskey bar and pub is slated to take over the the vacated space left behind by Mark's Sports Bar. The new whiskey bar will be called Independent Ice Company, and plans to serve a large array of premium whiskeys and bourbons. They'll also have a lunch and dinner menu for their 23-seat space.

52 Wharf Street was also the home to Buck's Naked BBQ and The Iguana. Wharf Street has been known to draw in a younger crowd, specifically over the weekend. But with recent additions to the Wharf Street scene, an upscale whiskey bar may be the perfect addition to the other bars and restaurants that line the cobblestone street.

Independent Ice Company hopes to open before the end of summer.
