The Portland City Council has delayed the decision to change the name of the street to honor the late Martin Luther King Jr.

According to a story by WMTW, Portland residents appear to be strongly opposed to renaming a main artery in the city of Portland.

The idea was brought up last month, but last night the Portland City Council decided to delay the decision amid opposition from locals. Many residents are still bitter about the city's creation of the arterial 50 years ago.

Some are recommending that the find another way to honor the legacy of one of the nation's greatest civil rights leaders.
