As my wife and I were driving down Main St. in Lewiston, I saw a rainbow in the distance. It wasn't a rainbow in the sky, it was a rainbow hat sitting perfectly on someone's head.

This someone is Jess and she Rocks Lewiston! Jess plays the guitar on the side of the road where panhandlers normally stand. She plays music, sings, and spreads positivity throughout the city.

She radiates joy and makes each and every person smile in their cars as they drive to their destinations.

Jess has a Facebook group called, Jess Rocks Lewiston, and she describes why she plays music on the side of the road wearing a rainbow. Jess had a near-death experience that profoundly changed her life, because of that, she says feels responsible for people's souls.

Jess goes on to say, "I want to be a support to my community and I want us to rebuild this community with so so so much love because no matter who you are or what you've done, or what you have been through, just know that I get it, I understand it, and I LOVE YOU."

This is an example of how happiness doesn't cost a thing. You can promote it for free and a smile goes a long way. Kindness matters because life is hard. We need more people like Jess and we're proud to see a Mainer helping others.

She has taken her difficulties in life and used those experiences to develop herself and encourage compassion every day.

The next time you're driving down Main St in Lewiston, let Jess know you support her cause! Check out Jess' Facebook group and throw her your support! I know I will!
