Uncle Nicky Tries Maine’s Moxie for the First Time
Your favorite uncle got a chance to try something very Maine.
I went to visit everyone's favorite uncle and my actual uncle, Uncle Nicky. I had a great visit with my favorite uncle and decided that since we chat with him every week on the radio for the 'Coffee With Uncle Nicky' segment, maybe he should become a true Mainer and try Moxie.
Did Uncle Nicky like Maine's Moxie?
Uncle Nicky is 82 years old and will turn 83 this summer. To say he's set in his ways would be an understatement. But the man has an adventurous soul and is always up for trying new things. Moxie is as new to him as it gets. I figured he'd love Moxie considering he LOVES Mr. Pibb. Yuck. Ladies and gentlemen, I present Uncle Nicky trying Moxie for the very first time.
Okay, so thumbs up for lobster and a big thumbs down for Moxie. To quote Uncle Nicky, 'Sucks!'.
If you enjoy listening to my uncle (Fridays around 730 am on 94.9 WHOM), then you know he loves to tinker. He has set up half of the garage in their new place in Georgia as a workroom. This is my dad's brother and boy, his workroom reminded me of my dad so much! Must be a gene.

The highlight was Uncle Nicky's preparation of lamb chops on the grill
When Greeks get together, there are only two topics of conversation: weather and food. You can't have enough of either. The lamb chops had been discussed for weeks and marinated for days and then Uncle Nicky did his magic on a Webber grill. He can't stand the taste of a gas grill and uses charcoal the way God intended grilling to be done.
14 chops and three people to consume them. We put a major dent leaving only 5. I had 4, FOMO (that's my brother Greg - Fear Of Missing Out) had 5 and Uncle Nicky was the tamest at just two. They were truly amazing. Baked potatoes, a nice Greek salad, and a starter of Avgolemono soup (a lemon egg soup). Pure heaven.
I had a wonderful visit with my uncle and FOMO brother and can't wait to do it again.
