Smoked Windham is getting a little frustrated with the two years of road work that have been going on near their location at the intersection of River Road and Route 202/Main Street in Windham. So they came up with a way to vent that they hope you'll join in on.

Smoked Windham Sign

Smoked in Windham has become famous for their message board beneath their sign. Someone or many someones are very clever and very funny. On their website, they describe themselves as a "cozy neighborhood pub with great food, quirky signs, and questionable staff." This place doesn't take things too seriously, which means driving in and seeing their sign will usually leave you with a laugh or two.

Orange Cones and Barriers Everywhere

According to Smoked Windham's current sign, which we'll dive into in a bit, road work has been underway right in front of Smoked for two years now, and they're getting a little tired of it. The photo above was captured by Google Street View in the fall of 2024. Everything is torn up, and orange barriers are all over the place.

However, Smoked found a good way to get their message out, and people are responding.

Honk at Smoked

Smoked put up the message above on July 10, asking drivers to honk if two years of this damn road work is driving you as crazy as they are.

Ask and ye shall receive:

When Will Construction End?

That's the question that everyone wants to know. A quick check of the Maine DOT website finds that there is no set completion date for the project. Hopefully, the road at Smoked will be done soon, but in the meantime, honk as you go by Smoked in Windham.
