Tilton’s Market sits at 11 Turner Street in Buckfield, Maine, right on Route 117 in the heart of this small Oxford County town. It’s much more than a grocery store. Locals know it as a friendly general store where fresh produce, quality meats from the butcher counter, baked goods, and everyday essentials can be found under one roof.

Tilton’s Market has been a beloved community fixture for generations, serving Buckfield residents and visitors alike with groceries, take-out favorites like pizza, burgers, and breakfast sandwiches, and even beer and wine selections. Its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff make it a place where neighbors catch up over coffee long after the morning rush.

No one has ever had a bad word to say about Tilton's Market, but in the age of the internet, where you can leave comments, you can get away with a lot anonymously. Unless, of course, you confront a person complaining head-on.

Tilton's Market is owned by Sandra Fickett, who took over in 2014, with her husband, Peter Fickett. Sandra knows exactly how to deal with these comments very well.

Here's the message posted on December 31:

After this post on Tilton Market's Facebook page went up to apologize for the trouble with their pizza, that's when our troublemaker came into the picture with posts that Sandra quickly addressed firmly, still, in the most polite way she could.

Rather than share the troublemaker's response, I think it's even better to show the comments from all the people who praised Tilton's for what they do for this small community:

Don't let keyboard warriors get to you. Technology is great in many ways, but I'm seeing more and more people attacking others at the stroke of a few keys, when it would be much more appropriate to just talk to someone face-to-face.
Because of this post I will seek out the store to get pizza when we come home to visit!
Some of us remember what your store did and meant for a lot of us during the height of COVID.
I have been by there many, many times. I have never stopped in but after reading this I will stop in and check out your place. You obviously care about your customers and business. Kudos !!!
Talk about a tight-knit community. If you ever find yourself driving through Buckfield, Maine, near the intersection of routes 117 and 140, stop in to Tilton's. Unlike our trouble-maker, you won't be disappointed.
