What the hell is this thing?

I was researching Maine's many islands and looking for a unique, unknown spot for a weekend getaway, when my eyes were assaulted by this nightmarish looking creature. Make sure you click the arrow to the right to see the second photo (if you dare). 

Instagrammer @jrdunbar7 posted the photos on April 23 with the caption, "Homely bugger  we caught today." The photo is geotagged in Corea, Maine, a little fishing village near the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park.

I'm sure this is some sort of commonly known fish in our Atlantic waters, but it frightens the hell out of me. I don't think I can swim in the same hemisphere as a creature with a mouth like that.

Can anybody tell me what that fish is? Have you ever seen a scary aquatic creature in the ocean in Maine?
