These Three Maine Schools Were Just Named 2017 National Schools Of Excellence
The National Blue Ribbon Commission, a part of the U.S. Department of Education, has named 342 schools for excellence this year, in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
Three of them are in Maine!
According to the Commission's press release today, the following schools in Maine were selected as "Schools of Excellence" for their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups, and for demonstrating high levels of success across their student bodies.
Conners‐Emerson School in Bar Harbor
Falmouth Elementary School in Falmouth
Fourteenth Street School in Bangor
Representatives from Fourteenth Street School, Connors-Emerson School, and Falmouth Elementary School are invited to Washington, D.C., for an awards ceremony in November. At the ceremony, each Blue Ribbon school will be presented with an award plaque and a flag.
More than 8,200 schools nationwide have been recognized since the Blue Ribbon award's creation more than 35 years ago. Congrats to all the winners!
