‘Walking America Couple’ Makes Their Way Across Maine

A remarkable journey across America is now making its way through Maine.

The Walking America Couple, who began their adventure on May 16, 2022, in Chillicothe, Missouri, are walking about 12,000 miles through all 50 states while raising awareness about the power of the mind and the importance of their message.

According to information shared on their Facebook page, the couple has already covered nearly 8,000 miles and completed 29 states! Wow. I hope they have good walking shoes. 

After 8,000 Miles on Foot, the Walking America Couple Is Exploring Maine

Their latest chapter has brought them to Maine!

The post is a reminder that their journey often depends on the kindness and hospitality of strangers. The walk through Lewiston was love. That was honest and refreshing for us in the Twin Cities.    

The couple typically walks between 10 and 20 miles a day, although they have walked as many as 30 miles in a single day.

Rather than relying on hotels, they frequently stay with people they meet along the way, with about one-third of their nights spent camping and the rest hosted by others.

Their journey is not simply about putting miles behind them.

They describe their walk as both a mission and a way to share a message, while documenting the people, communities and experiences they encounter along the way.  

Now, with Maine becoming their latest state to explore, residents in Lewiston, Auburn and surrounding communities have an opportunity to follow their progress and maybe even become part of their extraordinary cross-country story!
