Sometimes the best part of eating is skipping dinner and going straight for the dessert. That's what a new dessert shop opening in Portland's Old Port is counting on. According to Portland Food Map, Gross Confection Bar, the brainchild of Brant Dadalearas, will open this weekend at 57 Exchange Street in the space vacated by Christmas Noel.

Dadalearas has been plotting and planning Gross Confection for years, and the initial menu offerings is likely to make any dessert lovers mouth water. If you're looking for your own personal dessert, there will be plenty. You can choose from crumb brûlée (yes, CRUMB) or your own personal high-end eclair. If you're more into sharing desserts, Gross will have some specifically designed for two people or more. Some of those offerings include brown butter yogurt panna cotta and carrot cake French toast.

Oh, and did we mention there's drinks? Gross Confection will be a full service bar with some exceptionally intriguing signature cocktails. Add in a large selection of wines, and you've got yourself a pretty good dinner-free night on the town.

Gross Confection plans to open each day at the perfect time for dessert, 5pm. Dining will be available until midnight and the bar will remain open until 1am.
