There’s A Free 1-Mile Storybook Walk In Maine That’s A Perfect Family Adventure
If you're looking to get out of the house with your family of all-ages and do something this summer that doesn't include the beach, Pineland Farms in New Gloucester might have the perfect little adventure for you. It's called a Story Walk, an idea that combines reading the pages of a children's book while strolling along an easily hiked path.
The Pineland Farms Story Walk is normally a hosted event. You'd have someone leading the way throughout the 1-mile long path, bringing you to each new page of the storybook and reading aloud. But for the summer of 2020, coronavirus concerns will leave the guiding and reading aloud to parents and guardians alike.
One of the best parts of this educational excursion? It's FREE. Another great part is this is an activity you can revisit throughout the summer because Pineland Farms will be switching out the storybooks every two weeks, New stories, new pages, new adventures but the same chance to read and exercise at the same time.
The first book of the Story Walk series this year is "Frog In The Bog" by Karma Wilson and Joan Rankin. The Story Walk can be found across from the market at 15 Farm View Drive. There are yellow signs that are quite visible that should guide you to the start.
Pineland Farms is open 7 days a week with differing hours depending on which part of the farm you're visiting.
