Take the Family on The Pumpkin Pickin’ Train in Alna, Maine This Weekend

With fall in full swing, what could be more fun to get into the season than an old-fashioned train ride to pick your own pumpkin?

The Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum is a narrow gauge railway just north of Wiscasset that runs on a rail right-of-way that was abandoned in 1939. 3.2 miles of the rail have been reconstructed and excursion trains powered by a steam locomotive take passengers back and forth over the line for a 6-mile round trip.

A special trip on the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway to go pumpkin picking on Saturday from September 24 to October 22.

You'll board the train at Sheepscot station at 97 Cross Road in Alna and take a 20-minute ride through the forest and farmland of Alna. The train will stop and passengers will then hop on a tractor hay ride to Sea Lyon Farm where they can pick their own pumpkin and have fun in more fall activities three. The pumpkin is not included in the price of your train ticket and can be purchased at the farm with cash or credit/debit card.
The whole trip is about two and a half hours and a great way to spend a fall day with the family. Trains depart on the hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and run Saturday from September 24 to October 22.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for youths. Pumpkin prices vary by size.
