Stage 2 of Maine’s Reopening – Here’s What You Need To Know
Now that June 1 has arrived, the State of Maine has moved into stage 2 of Maine's phased reopening. With it, more businesses are able to open up, some restrictions are eased and how we got about our daily lives changes a bit as we gradually move toward a full opening.
Here's a list of things to know as we begin stage 2 of Restarting Maine's Economy as outlined by the Mills' Administration as well as links to specific guidelines.
- The limit on public gatherings now increases from 10 to 50 people while still maintaining social distancing.
- The 14-day quarantine on people entering Maine still remains in effect.
- At-risk people should stay home when possible.
- Employees in legal and professional fields may return to offices
These businesses may open by following the State's COVID-19 Checklist Standards
- Campgrounds/RV parks open to out-of-state residents who have completed quarantine guidelines on June 1.
- Day camps and summer recreation may open
- State Park Campgrounds may open
- Coastal State Parks may open with some services
- Community sports may begin
- Restaurants in York, Cumberland, and Androscoggin counties may open to outdoor service and pickup and delivery service only. All other counties may open to dine-n service as well.
- Tanning Salons may open
- All retail businesses may open
When you go out to retail businesses, you'll still see limits on the number of people allowed in a store at one time which varies depending on the size of the store. Wearing a mask when in these stores is mandatory during the COVID-19 pandemic and businesses are authorized to refuse service or entry to customers who aren’t wearing masks unless a person is exempt from the requirement. Those exempt include people who have difficulty breathing or another medical condition that causes them to be unable to wear a face covering. Medical documentation does not need to be provided.
