Now that June 1 has arrived, the State of Maine has moved into stage 2 of Maine's phased reopening. With it, more businesses are able to open up, some restrictions are eased and how we got about our daily lives changes a bit as we gradually move toward a full opening.

Here's a list of things to know as we begin stage 2 of Restarting Maine's Economy as outlined by the Mills' Administration as well as links to specific guidelines.

  • The limit on public gatherings now increases from 10 to 50 people while still maintaining social distancing.
  • The 14-day quarantine on people entering Maine still remains in effect.
  • At-risk people should stay home when possible.
  • Employees in legal and professional fields may return to offices

These businesses may open by following the State's COVID-19 Checklist Standards

When you go out to retail businesses, you'll still see limits on the number of people allowed in a store at one time which varies depending on the size of the store. Wearing a mask when in these stores is mandatory during the COVID-19 pandemic and businesses are authorized to refuse service or entry to customers who aren’t wearing masks unless a person is exempt from the requirement. Those exempt include people who have difficulty breathing or another medical condition that causes them to be unable to wear a face covering. Medical documentation does not need to be provided.
