If you are looking for a fun and festive way to add some holiday cheer to your social media feed this season, be sure to check out the South Portland (Maine) Police Department’s Facebook page. They have launched a brand-new holiday series that brings a playful twist to their usual updates. Their Elf on the Shelf, appropriately named Officer Elfie, has officially joined the department, and he is already making a big impression for such a tiny officer.

In their first post, the department shared that they will be temporarily pausing their Friday 5 @ 5 officer spotlights as they shift into holiday mode. But in their place, they are rolling out something fun, festive, and full of personality. Enter: Officer Elfie.

Day 1 follows Officer Elfie as he begins his field training. Just like any new officer, he has to start somewhere, even if he is only a few inches tall. According to the post, Elfie spent his first day cruising around the city, observing, learning, and taking in everything it takes to help keep South Portland safe. From patrol units to special divisions, this tiny recruit is eager to explore it all. And in true Elf on the Shelf fashion, he is also determined to bring plenty of joy, humor, and holiday spirit to the community.

The best part is that this is only the beginning. The department has hinted that Officer Elfie will be popping up in new locations and situations each day. Whether he is on patrol, learning about equipment, visiting city landmarks, or simply getting into elf-sized mischief, his adventures promise to be entertaining for both kids and adults.

If you love holiday traditions, local community engagement, or just need a smile during a busy season, make sure to follow along. Head over to the South Portland Police Department Facebook page and see where Officer Elfie turns up next. You never know what he will get into.
