A local sandwich shop will be opening at a new location this week in downtown Portland.

Roll Call, the Popular purveyors of mouth-watering sandwiches, is about to open its doors at  their newest location. The shop can now be found on the fist floor of the Public Market House, right in the heart of Monument Square.

Roll Call has already been on quite the journey. The good folks over at Portland Food Map have a great little writeup on its brief history. The site writes that Roll Call originally started as a pop-up before opening a location on Clark St in the West End. However, the shop shut its doors in early 2021 and became a food cart. Now it's back to a brick and mortar, this time in a location in Portland's Downtown district.

Roll Call's owners haven't exactly been away from that experience. As Portland Food Map points out, owners Michael and Siobhan Sindoni also own Wayside Tavern in Portland. They opened it back in the Summer of 2021.

According to Portland Food Map, Roll Call will expect to expand its menu, even adding breakfast. There is expected to even be some limited seating. There's also communal seating upstairs and outside at the Public Market House.

Roll Call's menu is a diverse mix of delicious-sounding options. This includes their popular roast beef sandwich and grilled cheese, and light fare like kale salads and tofu options.

It's exciting to see Roll Call take over a really nice space. I have actually seen the construction happening a few times in the building, and it does look like its going to be really unique. I'm also very excited to try the food soon. Thankfully, the WBLM studio is just a stones throw away.

You can find out more info about Roll Call on their website.
